Image and video hosting by TinyPicFirst let's establish a little history. Religion was born of primitive man's desire to understand the world around him. Not equipped with the information to understand the mechanics of the universe, he attributed what he saw to gods. Throughout history religion has actively, and often violently fought science. Now it tries to assert itself into the scientific realm without really understanding what science is.

Faith does not suffer reason very well. It never has and never will. Even relatively rational theists will only hold your hand for so long down the reason path before asserting faith to explain the dark corners they cannot illuminate with their brand of reason.

This video represents the ultimate last resort of the Christian zealot. When their logic and intellect are exhausted and they are backed into the corner of their own ignorance they almost always pull out the, "you'll get yours when you die. You will see I am right! You'll be burning in a pit of fire." It really shows just how limited the argument is. The other argument of last resort is the appeal to delusion or faith. The, "you just have to believe" argument. Neither of these really hold any meaning except to the delusional.

Arguing with credulous people, to borrow a phrase from Barney Frank, is like arguing with a table. Do we really want this level of ignorance influencing our government? I certainly do not.

I have attempted to briefly establish these concepts in order to give an idea of the very real threat delusion is to a rational form of governance. Clearly, if any one group's ability to reason is so impaired, then we should let more rational minds prevail. If a person claims to be rational AND religious, we must require they check their faith at the door before entering into our legislative halls. If they enter impaired by delusion, the resultant legislation will be flawed by that delusion.

For many years now a very extreme form of delusion has forcefully and effectively infiltrated our government. Take a look at just two examples. I am sure you have seen many many more.

This speech is so full of half truths and lies that it is really quite nauseating. I have disassembled this bullshit elsewhere and it is not the focus today.

And finally the ever present Christian fear baiting in the form of spinning "The War on Christmas".

So if you do not believe that there are those in our government that want to establish a theocracy, then I believe you are naive. The reason that I will not stop this fight and will aggressively pursue purging these idiots from our government is that they want to force their delusion on the rest of us. I encourage you root them out as well. Ideas can be dangerous, especially ones based in delusion.
