The sign-waving knuckle draggers of the Westboro Baptist Church probably thought they were heading to Kansas City on Friday (Sept. 16) to protest a boring old Foo Fighters show. What they got instead was a load of mockery right in their faces, delivered by the very band they came to harass.
Dressed in purposely crude trucker/hillbilly garb, the rockers-turned-bumpkins rolled up to the group of protesters outside the Sprint Center in a flat bed truck and sang them a country jam titled "Keep It Clean (Hot Buns)."
The Kansas-based congregation (really just the extended family of the group's leader, Fred Phelps) appear in the footage to be excited by the free entertainment. Until it becomes abundantly clear that they are being punk'd with lyrics about a trucker and his "hankering" for "hot-man muffins" after a long drive on the open road.

(Hmmm... What do they call what they are doing to the Middle Class?
Great diary Pardu, Thanks! - promoted by lamb12)
After hearing about the president's intent to go public with more of his deficit plans, Paul Ryan and a few others infested cable network show over the weekend. I am certain the president knows that the GOP will not carte blanche buy into his plan to increase taxes on the GOP's predominate constituent, his strategy is none-the-less brilliant. He garnered the desired set of responses.
Ryan railed about class warfare.
Why does the right always have to use words that are common to jingoistic personalities? I suggest that the 'fantastic chart below and recent revelations relative to 'living in poverty' shows that the nation is already at ill-ease relative to 'econocmic class': classism.
We have 15.1 per cent of the population living in poverty (less than 22,000 per year income). I read some place that we have 42 - 46 million people living in poverty. So, the president mentions taxing people who earn $1,000,000 or more and Ryan declares class warfare. Yet, Ryan never mentioned it as the poverty figures rolled across of television screens early last week.
We often write, speak, or read about a growing divide that splits the nation along class lines. Those lines are more often than not associated with income, wealth or a lack there of. The divide is particularly disconcerting when one factor-in the undue amount of 'hand-offs' positions taken by the GOP regarding taxation. Taxation as I use the word relates solely to a balanced approach to the nations deficit and national debt problems and a tendency to reach for quick fixes that unduly affect you and me.
Their profits are skyhigh. Their compensation is out the roof. None of them have ever been held accountable for the crapper they helped flush us all down. The Dow has been on a steady climb since 2009.The tax rates have not changed. It's pretty much the Bush tax policies, yet they rail against Pres. Obama.
The funny thing is, I don't think they'd like ANYBODY that would put ANY regulations on them at all. That's just pathetic.
Check out Jim Cramer and the reasons behind this thinking.
Hey, this has come up a few times, so we're just going to formalize the rule -- if someone is using a username that is not their real name... please let them continue to do so.
Many people are in work, family, or other situations where it would cause them problems to blog under their own names. We respect that, and everyone else should as well.
So unless someone else volunteers their own name, it is against the rules for you to do it for them. Ditto with other personal items, like address, phone, etc.
Doing so will result in banning, since it really can cause hardship in certain cases.
(They don't care. Push the rhetoric, drum up the crowd, and make them forget that these kind of ideals won't ever affect them. They are special. Only the "other" people will be affected. Problem is, they ARE the "other" people just like you and me.
Mr. Paul should have his medical license revoked. The Hippocratic oath says, "To do no harm". He as a doctor is advocating to harm alot of people in this country by using that as a platform.
Great diary Minn. I just couldn't handle that hot mess of them debating again. Once was more than enough! - promoted by lamb12)
Many Americans are waking up after watching last night's GOTP debate feeling a bit shocked and awed about what they witnessed on stage.
Did Ron Paul really say that if someone is not insured and gets sick they should just die? And, did people really cheer and clap?
It took two days for unity to start falling away. Now it seems that the tragedy of 9/11 has turned into a big ole money making marketing day and of course hate. How far off is this vid from the truth? Sometimes, the harshness of reality is best served in comedic form. Makes it a bit easier to swallow.
What is it about us, that we can't set the fighting amongst ourselves on this day, Sept. 11, aside and just honor, remember, and celebrate the lives these 3000 people lived? Not everything in this world or this country should be fought about. Especially this. We all lost that day. The nation, the families, me, you, WE all lost something or someone that day. Sometimes it feels like that fact has been missplaced. Peace be with all the families who lost that day, Peace to all of us.
That's my FB status for today.
I spent some time today watching the ceremony at Ground Zero. The names of all who perished were revealed for the first time. It is something to see. They will be opening the Memorial officially to the public tomorrow. I am hoping to go there on Tuesday.
(I caught that Hardball segment as well. Wonder how long before someone like Limbaugh or faux news will commence with the feeding frenzy of this man on all levels of his life and his career. I give it...3...2...1...

The GOP is Not the Party of Abe Lincoln September 10, 2011
By The Pardu
The "defection" of long-term GOP staffer Mike Lofgren has been a recent topic of discussion on shows like Hardball. Chris Matthews' segment on the former Congressional staffer, who left office after a 28-year career, and the hubbub over his recently published article sheds confirming light on what you and I have known for years: the GOP is not working for the good of the nation.
It has been, to say the last, an interesting week. I wish I could go into it, but I can't talk about a conversation "that never happened". If you understand that bit of vagueness.
So, unfortunately, I need to take an extended leave from the site. I know I've done this before. But this time I have no idea when I'll be back. All of my time and energy needs to be put into a very important task. And even tho I love this site and the people on it, some things are more important. This just happens to be one of them.
In the mean time, you are in good hands with Lamb.
So until the next whenever, this is your loyal co-editor signing off.
